Foundation for the Education of Rural Children (FERC)
Based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, FERC is a nonprofit organization registered in Thailand and the USA, where we have made several tax-deductible donations from our end through an agreement with Give2Asia. FERC’s primary objectives are:
FERC holds fundraising events to manage an active and growing scholarship program for children in their final three years of high school. Scholarship ceremonies are held twice a year.
How We Support FERC
Our current student, Nam, is a hard worker with a GPA of 3.95 and hopes to go on to college for her business administration studies. Nam and her siblings live with their aunt because their father has passed away while their mother works in Bangkok to provide income and support for her family. Our mission is to help Nam finish her studies and provide access to basic education for children like her who live in rural Thailand.
Make a Difference in Sweeney's Life
Sweeney Inziani is the first-born daughter of a hardworking family from a village near Kakamega in Kenya. Sweeney’s epileptic brother passed away at a young age, and a few years later, her mother (who had been sick for many years) followed her little boy.
The funds that Sweeney and her father had saved for her secondary education had to be used to cover the hospital and funeral costs. With no money for her studies, Sweeney had to drop out of school and stay home without electricity and only old magazines and books to keep her busy, as she read them repeatedly.
Sweeney loves to study, and her father is heartbroken that they have no money to pay for her to go back to school. She also has five younger siblings, including a sister who has been unable to attend secondary school. They all put their hopes on Sweeney and her passion for learning.
