A current focus of our support is:
The FOUNDATION FOR THE EDUCATION
OF RURAL CHILDREN (FERC )
The Foundation for the Education of Rural Children, FERC is based in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It is a nonprofit organization, registered in Thailand and the USA.
Its primary objectives are:
• To support education for rural Thai and tribal communities children in the North of Thailand.
• To provide access to education through scholarships.
FERC’s main activities are dedicated to fund-raising and managing an active and growing scholarship program for children in the final 3 years of high school. Scholarship ceremonies are held twice a year
Trinity supports FERC in a number of ways:
• By providing a high value prize for raffles at Search Associates Job Fairs. This year's raffle in January and March raised over 114,000 baht.
That is enough for almost 9 scholarship years or three full 3 year scholarships!
• By directly sponsoring students for a full 3 year 30,000 baht scholarship.
Our current student, Nam, is a hard worker (GPA 3.95!) and hopes to go on to Business Administration studies. Nam and her siblings live with their aunt. Her father has passed away and her mother works in Bangkok to provide income and support for her family.
Donations to FERC, made in the USA through our agreement with Give2Asia, are tax deductible
Our mission is to provide access to basic education for children in rural Thailand.
The chance to make a difference in one life..Sweeney's story
Sweeney Inziani is the first born daughter of a hard working family from a village near Kakamega in Kenya. Sadly, Sweeney's brother, who was an epileptic, passed away when quite young. A few years later her mother (who had been sick for many years) passed away. The funds that she and her father had saved for her secondary education had to be used up with hospital and funeral costs. She ended up pulling out of school early and looking after their small hut in the village; with no electricity and only old magazines and books to read and read again. She loved to study and her father was heartbroken that there was no money left for her future. She also has 5 younger siblings - with not much hope. Sweeney’s younger sister has also not been able to go to secondary school. All of Sweeney’s siblings and her aging father are putting their hopes in Sweeney's future.
Shilpa Shah, a Life Coach and Management Trainer in Kenya with a link to Sweeney’s family started to ask people if anyone wanted to support Sweeney. After much work Shilpa and friends have helped Sweeney get through her school studies and to get a place at the University of Nairobi. Between finishing school and before uni Sweeney went to Graffins College where she learnt to use a computer and learnt useful software packages (MS Word, Excel etc.) She was so delighted to be studying again.
Sweeney has reached the 3rd year of university (she is studying Commerce/Business) and she wants to specialize in Finance. She is quite confident and very clear about what she wants in her career and her supporters are already drafting a CV for her. With Sweeney, they will approach leading companies for an entry level position starting in September 2016.
For Sweeney to complete university Shipla needs to raise a minimum of £1,150 GBP. Many people around the world have been so generous; £50 - £100 makes a huge difference in Kenya. Two people have given their old laptops - which she has used. Sweeney still uses the small Macbook kindly donated still. Sweeney managed to sell the first laptop to another student.
So, that is Sweeney’s story. A donation will make a difference to the life of one strong and hardworking Kenyan lady. It will also mean Sweeney’s siblings will have a chance at a better future and to follow their loving oldest sister to a life full of hope.
Shipla will regularly send updates on Sweeney to anyone who generously supports her. If anyone would like to email Sweeney (she would love to hear from you) she will happily respond to you.

Having given up her long and exhausting fight with depression, Leanne left shocked and devastated family, friends and work colleagues behind, many possibly asking ‘could I have done something to help her?’
Not an easy question - yet one being asked by the families and friends of the 4,400 suicide victims in the UK every year. According to statistics 1 in 4 of us will be affected by mental health issues at some point in our lives. Yet mental health is little understood, it remains a social taboo and a deadly illness with a very little voice. Because of this, to some that are suffering it may seem that there is little support, or even that there is no care.
The Leanne Baker Trust is in its infancy. The family and the charity trustees want to be able to guide those that suffer with depression to the support available and increase awareness surrounding the stigma of mental health. Initially the idea was to set up a localised Huddersfield base with the support of Huddersfield University to offer support to young people suffering from depression and anxiety. This proposal is not a definitive and The Leanne Baker Trust is also keen to support other mental health charities.
Helping sufferers of mental health issues as well as carers, friends and families.
